Can we ask people for their loyalty?

Sure we can. We do that all that time whenever we ask to make pledges, oaths, wedding vows etc. The problem comes when Trump asks it and you cannot be too sure about what he wants to do with your loyalty.

The problem with Trump is simple. The dude is not a very trustworthy person in the first place. He defaults on legal loans, makes wild, unsubstantiated claims and does not want to back people up unless they can offer him something.

This makes him...sketchy to say the least. Hard to trust. Why should we offer you our loyalty when you clearly do not have our backs in the first place. And there's the fact that he asks for loyalty during an investigation and seems to want it so that he does not get into trouble.

So we may ask for loyalty but we should also be loyal in return as well as be trustworthy enough to ask for that loyalty. Trump is none of those and that's the problem that people have with him asking for loyalty.
